Israel Adesanya has weighed in on Alex Pereira’s latest accolade, posting a humorous video on social media after Pereira was revealed as one of the featured cover athletes for the upcoming UFC 6 video game.
Pereira’s rise has been closely tied to Adesanya. He defeated Adesanya by fifth-round TKO to win the middleweight title at UFC 281 in November 2022, before Adesanya returned the favor with a first-round knockout in the main event of UFC 287 in Miami to regain the belt.
The playful reaction from Adesanya comes as Pereira continues to stack up achievements. Pereira most recently won the light heavyweight title for the second time by stopping Magomed Ankalaev in 80 seconds at UFC 320, and he is scheduled to face Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight title at UFC White House in June.
The two rivals share a long history across kickboxing and MMA, including splitting two middleweight championship bouts. Pereira is a two-time UFC light heavyweight champion and is now attempting to become the UFC’s first three-division titleholder by moving up to heavyweight.
